About David and Kim

David Benitez and Kim Schwartz are a dynamic, young couple who met in Buenos Aires and set up their tango company, Tango Movement, in London in June 2007.

Since then, they have rapidly become recognised as one of the UK’s leading professionals, much requested for their performances and classes around the UK and beyond.

Their love of tango and for teaching is evident in every class that they give. They are unique in their focus on technique – from both the lady’s and the man’s perspective – and for the individual attention they offer to each and every one of their students.

Biography

Argentinean born David Benitez started his career as a ballet and contemporary dancer. He graduated from Buenos Aires’ premier dance school, San Martin, and worked in internationally renowned companies, such as the Contemporary San Martin Ballet and Maximiliano Guerra’s Mercosur Ballet. He turned to tango when his ballet company danced in a show with tango diva, Mora Godoy. Since then, he has toured with top companies such as Tanguera, Ana Maria Stekelman’s Tangokinesis and Miguel Angel Zotto’s famous Tango Por Dos, touring Italy, Switzerland, Israel and London’s very own Sadlers Wells.

Kim Schwartz’s passion for tango was such that she moved to Buenos Aires where for four years she immersed herself in the world of tango, studying with some of the world’s most renowned maestros. She was the first Brit to perform in Buenos Aires tango shows – including La Cumparsita, Chiquilin Tango and Tango Real (in the Mansion Dandi) – and to teach tango in the famous Confitería Ideal and the Mansion Dandi Royal. Her time in Buenos Aires has given her the deepest respect for and understanding of the tango, its culture and traditions, which is evident both in her dancing and her teaching.

What the Critics Say ...

“... performing their scorching exhibition numbers, the couple are powerful exponents of a magnetic dance form ... with chemistry oozing from every pore.” - Jeffery Taylor, The Sunday Express

"Tango Por Dos dancer David Benitez and his British partner Kim Schwartz delivered stunning foot and legwork, which melded with a sensuality and a range of emotions which seemed to far exceed their youth ... underscored by an almost divine connection - to each other as partners, and to the music." - Dance Now magazine

“... the night belonged to the stunning performances by David Benitez & Kim Schwartz ... this duo demonstrated what the magic of dancing tango is all about - four feet, two hearts and a dance floor melting into an almost spiritual union - and they showed that that could be achieved not just in the drama of the sexiest steps but just as much in the simplest moves when executed with the utmost elegance" - thisisnottingham.co.uk
